After 7 years of a highly sedentary lifestyle (and several hip surgeries), I realized I had to make a change, but was hesitant to hire a personal trainer/coach. Naturally, I was concerned that they wouldn’t understand my unique needs, and had to be sure I could trust someone to help me through this major transition. I did some searching and was lucky enough to be paired with Rob Harris. Although we’ve been working together for less than a month, I’m noticing that my balance, stability, strength and confidence are all improving. Rob is a true professional who not only has deep knowledge about the body, but also carefully assesses and coaches on proper form and function. He’s patient, articulate and provides clarity on the ‘why’s” of what we are doing. We’re not pounding heavy weights or performing acrobatics; we’re focusing on building from the core, outward. It’s a slow start, as it should be, but the journey has just begun, as I look forward to returning to the active and healthy looking person I’d regretfully written off. I’ll update later with reports of progress! Update 8/23/2024: I’m making great progress. My posture, gait and general sense of well being have improved tremendously. While I’ve lost only 7 pounds, the changes are noticeable. I’m beginning to feel like a new and improved version of myself without debilitating back and sciatic pain. Rob is careful and methodical with his workout plans, while focusing on form, and clearly, this is working! I can’t wait to post another update in a few months!
